Just Living -- 101 in 1001

My mission is to complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days. Why? Because wouldn't it be the coolest to actually do a bunch of things I've always wanted but may never get around to doing if I don't write them down and focus? I thought so. I hope you will too. So here's my list and time's ticking away . . .

Bit by Bit

Time is running out and there are a lot of things on my list that just don't seem to matter anymore.

43. See more live bands and concerts.

This is very vague and difficult to quantify, but having gone to Toronto to see Leonard Cohen and Fredericton to see Matt Mays just to name a couple I think I've demonstrated my commitment.

69. Go to an event or concert alone.

I think going to "The Hour" taping all by myself qualifies. Plus I lunched alone without props (i.e. book, notebook, laptop, etc.) before the taping, which also qualifies I think. Now I just need to translate some of that good Toronto independent energy into some good Miramichi independent energy and I'll be golden.

86. Meet a celebrity.

Meeting Strombo counts. Meeting Dave Richards also counts. Honestly, I meet literary celebs all the freaking time. I mean what are the chances I'm ever going to be in the same room with Brangelina?

An Update

So, I think I can cross some stuff off the list.

3. Get up by 7:30am every day for a month.
I've got this one covered. I am now a morning person. Sleeping in to 7:30 is, well, sleeping in! I know. That's pretty crazy, but totally true. Most mornings I get up at 6. The early morning thing has been going on ever since the move to miramichi, give or take a day here or there.

4. Participate in a marathon.
It might not have been what I originally intended when i put this on my list, but the juvenile diabetes research 5K counts, and I did it, so there you go.

49. Watch no television for a week.
And again. This I do consistently. The only thing I'm watching on tv is coronation street, all at once on a sunday morning . . . and some weeks i even miss that.

99. Sell, donate or throw away 101 items.
For the fundraising yardsale i purged yet again. i could only find 57 items. that's it. that's all i have. i'm officially decluttered.

Catch Up

I've been doing stuff and not getting here to cross it off and update. So here's what's been going on.

13. Hang things in your apartment, from the ceiling and on the walls.

So I hung two calendars and two pictures. The calendars are art calendars, Van Gogh and Klimt, which I plan to turn around and frame my favourites at the end of the year. I really liked the picture frames I bought and now of course I can't find any more like them anywhere, though the other day I saw some different ones that I might pick up. The bottom line though is that while I am making progress I cannot cross this off yet because the main thing I want to accomplish is to get the lamp out of the box behind my couch and hang it downstairs in the foyer/library. So, there you go.

20. Watch all the Oscar winning Best Pictures.

Moving right along on this one thanks to Zip.ca. Last week I watched Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca. This weekend I look forward to On the Waterfront. I've been doing pretty good at crossing them off the list here.

32. Go to the Farmer's Market every weekend for a month.

I really want to cross this one off . . . I went three weeks in a row and then . . . well, you know how it is. So I'm keeping it on the list because Autumn is practically here and I'll want to cocoon and I need to keep as many incentives on my list as possible to get me up and out of here.

43. See more live bands and concerts.

Trish and I went to George's Roadhouse for blues band, but that's not enough to consider this a successful venture. The journey continues.

65. Buy a lottery ticket.

Success! I bought one! Nope, didn't win a penny, but I took the venture.

69. Go to an event or concert alone.

So I went to an art opening on my own. But I was distraught over the kids and only stayed a few minutes and met nobody new, so I don't think it counts. I'll try again.

98. Give Nick a bath.

Cha-ching! Been there, done that! He was not all that happy with me, but finally I was able to completely trim his fuzzyness and put him in the tub. I guess he knows who the leader of the pack is now, eh?

And that's all she wrote. I've got some other stuff on the go, like reading certain books and drinking lots of water and eating breakfast, but nothing else complete or near complete. Nothing else to report for the time being.
